Happy birthday wishes are in order for L'Oréal, the world's largest beauty company. The small, single brand company that started in 1909 turned 100 years old on June 4, 2009. Today, the company has 23 global brands such as L'Oréal Paris, Lancôme and The Body Shop. Commenting on the opportunities that lay ahead for future growth, L'Oréal CEO Jean-Paul Agon says: "The globalization of the cosmetics market is only just beginning. It provides our company with a huge opportunity for at least the next 20 years."

In 2008, Alberto Culver Company acquired the worldwide rights and trademarks to the Noxzema skin care brand from The Procter & Gamble Company. Noxzema joins the company's portfolio of well-known brands, like TRESemmé, Alberto VO5, St. Ives, Mrs. Dash and Soft & Beautiful.
