2009 Consumer Goods Registry: Housewares/Tools
Whirlpool Corporation
To adapt to the economic downturn, Whirlpool Corporation adjusted its business by reducing costs and production levels while providing customers with ongoing innovation. In January 2009, the manufacturer and marketer of major home appliances made a move to standardize its infrastructure in more than 40 countries by signing an information technology services agreement with IBM. "These changes will allow Whirlpool Global Information Systems to more quickly flex to changing business conditions and improve the quality of service we provide to our businesses," said Kevin Summers, corporate vice president and global chief information officer, Whirlpool Corporation.
