Awash in Data
Consumer Goods (CG) companies are awash in data, and more successful companies do a better job of leveraging data throughout the enterpise. Because of the importance of turning this mass of data into actionable information, business intelligence (BI) has risen to the forefront of technology initiatives as a way for the business -- not just IT -- to take ownership of data streams and enable better and faster decision making.
This month, CGT partners with HP to understand what kinds of BI outputs are being used today and for what purposes, and then identify the opportunity for future development. The unfortunate learning from this research is that thereis tremendous room for improvement, as too many companies are not effectively using technology to leverage the data they already have in-house.
