Campbell Board Elects New Director

Campbell Soup Company announces that its board of directors elects Nick Shreiber, retired chief executive officer of Tetra Pak Group, to the board, effective July 1, 2009.

Shreiber, is an international executive with more than 30 years of business experience. From 2000 to 2005, he served as president and CEO of Tetra Pak, a global company headquartered in Switzerland with approximately $12 billion in sales and a recognized leader in packaging and equipment for food products. Shreiber spent 18 years with Tetra Pak, including serving as president, North, Central and South Americas prior to becoming CEO. Since retiring from full-time corporate life in early 2006, he has been active in business through management consulting and executive coaching. He also spent 15 months as executive in residence at the International Institute for Management Development (IMD), a leading global business school in Switzerland. Prior to Tetra Pak, Shreiber was a partner at McKinsey & Company, with responsibility for major industrial and service sector clients in Europe and Latin America.

Shreiber succeeds Philip Lippincott, who retired from the Board in November 2008 after 24 years of service. With Shreiber's election, the Campbell Board will consist of 16 members, of whom Douglas R. Conant, Campbell's president and chief executive officer, is the only director who is not independent.
