ConAgra and Beech-Nut Make Healthy Living Easy

Make healthy living easy ConAgra Foods and Beech-Nut Nutrition Corporation revealed programs and strategies for healthier living at the American Dietetic Association's annual expo on Oct. 27, 2008. Specifically, ConAgra Foods will feature the Smart Choices Program logo, a new labeling program, on the front of its food packages. The Smart Choices Program symbol identifies more nutritious choices within specific product categories as well as calories per serving and servings per container. ConAgra Foods products, including items such as Healthy Choice meals, Hunt's canned tomatoes and Egg Beaters liquid eggs, will begin using the symbol by winter 2009. Similarly, Beech-Nut Nutrition launched "Beech-Nut Advancing Nutrition," a pledge to provide the most nutritious foods to support the healthy development of infants and toddlers. The initiative involves new product innovations and nutrition educations, including a unique labeling initiative to help parents easily identify nutrition information in each product and link to the food groups in the U.S. Department of Agriculture's MyPyramid.
