Coors Rewards The Designated Driver
The HERO Campaign for Designated Drivers, a national grassroots drunk driving prevention organization, is teaming up with Coors Brewing Company to reward safe driving and alcohol responsibility. Through the Coors Super Bowl "Be A HERO" Responsibility Contest, run in conjunction with MIX Radio in Phoenix, an individual in Arizona who has demonstrated a longstanding and recognizable commitment to preventing drunk driving will receive two tickets to the Feb. 3, 2008 Super Bowl game in Arizona. Nominees may include, but are not limited to, a designated driver who has taken responsibility for bringing a group of friends home after a night of partying; someone who started a safe ride home program; or someone involved in an alcohol awareness task force. The HERO Campaign was established by Bill and Muriel Elliott of Egg Harbor Township, N.J., after their son, Ensign John Elliott, was killed in a head-on collision with a drunk driver just weeks after graduating from the United States Naval Academy in May of 2000.
