Defining Lines

10/15/2010
By definition, the supply chain is a network of retailers, distributors, transporters and suppliers that participate in the sale, delivery and production of a product. But we know it's just not that simple. The supply chain is a complex beast, and your expanded definition may include words like reverse logistics, sustainability, direct store delivery, regulatory and retail compliance, inventory optimization, and so on. This month, we cover topics in supply chain that fall outside the traditional lines, starting with Land O'Lakes' journey to become one operating company on Page 12. On Page 32, CGT and Logility analyze inventory optimization initiatives, a top priority among 74 percent of consumer goods executives. Plus, we explore IT spending, mobile consumers, risk management, S&OP and much more in our annual Teach Trends Report. Is there a supply chain topic that interests you, but we're not covering it?
