Del Monte Celebrates Grand Opening in Pittsburgh
On the eve of January 23, 2006, Del Monte Foods Company celebrated the grand opening of its new Del Monte Center building on Pittsburgh's North Shore. The majority of Del Monte's Pittsburgh employees, who were spread out across four different administrative buildings, will move into the new, six-story, 270,000-square-foot office building by the end of this month. "We are thrilled with the completion of Del Monte Center -- the new home to more than 550 of our employees and great brands including StarKist, 9Lives, Kibbles 'n Bits, Snausages and Pup-Peroni," says Richard G. Wolford, chairman and chief executive officer of Del Monte Foods. The new building is expected to enhance the effectiveness of the Pittsburgh operation with modern and efficient workspaces, conference rooms and outstanding city views in a location that is convenient and central -- close to the downtown business district, public transportation, parking and other amenities. Del Monte's headquarters in San Francisco will not be affected by this change. And while approximately 550 of Del Monte's Pittsburgh employees will move to Del Monte Center, the Manufacturing and Research and Development operation will remain in its current location on the North Side.
