DuluxGroup Gets Digital with SAP

DuluxGroup, an Australia-based manufacturer of paint and other home improvement products, is implementing procurement solutions from SAP as part of an aggressive plan to digitize its business.

The company will use SAP Ariba to fuel an integrated process for managing its direct spending from end to end. “Direct procurement is complex, and to do it right, we need an integrated platform that allows us to automate our processes and collaborate with our partners around the globe in an efficient way on everything from design and sourcing to forecasting and manufacturing execution,” said Ian Griffith, DuluxGroup's head of procurement.

Integrating SAP Ariba’s solutions for direct spend with the SAP Integrated Business Planning system it already deploys, DuluxGroup will seek to completely digitize its extended supply chain, from integration with its product design and R&D processes all the way through manufacturing execution. In doing so, the manufacturer hopes to gain:

  • quick, accurate sourcing of all materials and services on a single platform.
  • faster time to market and innovation,
  • real-time supplier collaboration,
  • better product cost management,
  • stronger compliance, and
  • complete supply chain visibility.

“For years, companies have relied on manual, linear, design-to-deliver processes to select, manage, and collaborate with suppliers of components and raw materials,” said Keith Baranowski, SAP Ariba's global vice president and general manager of direct materials sourcing. “Digital networks are radically transforming this process, and in embracing them, innovative companies like DuluxGroup can deliver efficiencies and cost savings that give them advantage in today’s complex marketplace.”

DuluxGroup is a publicly listed company with headquarters in Melbourne, Australia and $1.34 billion in revenue in 2016. The company markets and manufactures paints and coatings, sealants and adhesives, garage doors and openers, and other home improvement and garden care products. Brands include Dulux, Selleys, Yates, Cabot’s, British Paints, Berger and B&D.
