Introducing CGT's Executive Council

1/24/2013
For many years, CGT has played a pivotal role in shaping and growing a community of passionate and forward-thinking consumer goods executives. The emphasis for CGT in 2013 will be to double down on the COMMUNITY aspect of what we do. The challenge, however, is that a community is only as good as the engagement of its core members. Fortunately for CGT, the dedication and commitment of our core members is stronger than ever. To truly leverage the power of our community, we are establishing a new CGT Executive Council, whose role will be to ensure that CGT continues to function as a highly relevant and vital entity for the consumer goods industry. I have personally asked two very passionate and forward-thinking individuals to chair the Executive Council: Jon Harding, CIO, Conair Corporation, and Michael Forhez, Principal, Consumer Products, Capgemini Consulting. In their roles as Co-Chairmen, they will provide strategic direction for the CGT brand. I am thrilled that they have accepted my invitation, and with their help, I look forward to reaffirming CGT’s commitment to the consumer goods community.

Dear CGT Community,

All of us in the consumer products community — manufacturers, retailers, software providers, consultants and others with a stake here — well recognize the innumerable contributions made by the able team of CGT. With so much to do, and so much at stake within our companies and in the service of the consumer, we are grateful for the commitment of this organization in creating and managing a community for us to share what we do and what we need to get done.

For those who have been around some 10-plus years in this community, we have seen the development and testing of many breakthrough ideas in such areas as Supply Chain Intelligence, Collaborative Planning and Forecasting, Trade Promotion Optimization, Category Analytics, Product Lifecycle Management, Master Data Management and, most recently, the ascendance of Social Media, Mobility and Big Data. For those who are new, or relatively new, to this community, there is a welcome need for your input and contributions if we are to grow in a way that serves us all.

We believe it is critical that CGT continues to be the “go to” source for thought leadership for consumer goods executives. As such, we are honored to accept the invitation to assist in crafting the next phase of development for CGT in order to serve all that seek to learn through this community. To start, we will be looking to tap the substantial breadth and depth of talent residing in the Editorial Advisory and Research Advisory Boards, out of which an Executive Council will be created. Once established, this Council will draft a charter with work activities that will drive the key issues that we all expect to address in our industry over the next three to five years.

Since this is a journey where all are welcome and where we hope all will find benefit, in the first weeks of 2013, we ask that you please give some thought to what you want to accomplish as we continue our work together. Forward your suggestions to [email protected].

We thank you in advance for your support and wish you a prosperous new year.

Best regards,
Jon Harding and Michael Forhez
