Mars, S.C. Johnson & 3M Make World’s Best Workplaces

The best workplaces are getting better around the globe, and the number of great, high-trust workplaces has nearly doubled since 2011. That's the big takeaway as consulting firm Great Place to Work and Fortune recently announced the sixth annual list of the 25 World's Best Multinational Workplaces.

Technology giant Google ranks No. 1 on the list for the fourth straight year, but four consumer goods companies also made the roster this year: Mars (at No. 12), Diageo (at No. 19), S.C. Johnson & Sons (at No. 20) and 3M (at No. 24).

At Mars, 89 percent of employees say their workplace is great; at 3M 80 percent say the same thing. Employees at SC Johnson say it’s a large company with a close family feel and amazing perks like a company resort.

Around the world, employees at leading workplaces feel better and better about where they work. Scores on our Trust Index Employee Survey(C), which measures levels of trust, pride and camaraderie, have increased at the best workplaces in 22 of the 30 countries for which Great Place to Work(R) has data going back to 2010, as well as in the region of Central America and the Caribbean.

What's more, the number of organizations around the world named as a Best Workplace or that have met our minimum standard of a great workplace has almost doubled since 2011. The figure that year was roughly 2,200 workplaces with a total of some 6.1 million employees. In 2016, the number of great workplaces has reached approximately 4,100, with an aggregate of about 6.9 million employees.
