A Note from Strategy& (October 2014 Meeting Wrap-Up)

12/12/2014
It was great to see everyone in sunny Orlando this October!

On Wednesday afternoon twenty of you came together for a presentation and discussion around Capturing the Benefits from Trade Investments:  What It Really Takes to Get the Money , where David Ganiear and Trey Alexander from Strategy&  led the presentation and discussion around five key success factors that maximize trade investments among their clients.

This presentation generated plenty of healthy discussion. For those of you who missed the session Dave and Trey will repeat their presentation during a CGT webinar on Tuesday, December 16th at 2pm EST. Please see below for details. We hope you all can find time during this busy period to join us for just an hour.

We also talked about what the group would like to accomplish in 2015. We heard many people really enjoy “working” sessions and talking amongst the group. We had a request, and much shared interest, for a “reference” document that listed members’ names, contact information, applications used, etc. We have started designing this and will send more information during the new year. Remember; as Kara often says, you get out of the group what you put in. Please keep the suggestions coming, let us know what the group can do to help you, and tell us what topics you are interested in learning about for the upcoming year.

On behalf of Strategy&, I would like to thank you all for your participation in the share group. It is our honor to work with you throughout the year. Best wishes to you for a Very Happy, Healthy, and Prosperous New Year!!

Over the past several years, consumer packaged goods (CPG) organizations have been hard at work trying to improve the effectiveness of their trade investments. Unfortunately, however, even their best efforts do not always pay off the way they hoped.

What’s standing in the way of progress?

In part, many trade promotion initiatives are piecemeal efforts that lack a central coordinating premise or approach. These initiatives range from IT-led system implementations of the latest bright shiny objects to analytically-driven efforts from centralized groups that fail to translate into the field, none of which show clear and quantifiable gains on the P&L statement.

But, CPG companies need not give up on their quest to find ROI. There is a better, more comprehensive approach to improve trade promotion effectiveness.

Join CGT and Strategy& on Tuesday, December 16th at 2:00 pm ET as we take an in-depth look at the five key success factors for getting the money from trade investment…
