Oracle Adds Demantra to Demand Planning Mix

Oracle is expanding its supply chain planning applications with the acquisition of Demantra, a demand management provider. The deal marks Oracle's 19th acquisition since 2002.The addition of Demantra solutions for demand management, sales and operations planning, and trade promotion planning and optimization closes a functionality gap for Oracle as it's three other demand planning applications (JD Edwards, PeopleSoft and Oracle APS) didn't meet complex consumer goods (CG) market requirements. With Demantra's solutions now under the Oracle umbrella, CG companies that have the assets from the Oracle CPG initiative of the 1990s or large investments in Siebel should be able to quickly capitalize on the strength of the Demantra assets for promotion planning and demand shaping.

Out of all 19 acquisitions, this project has the potential to be the cleanest integration to date because of Demantra's previous seven-year partnership relationship with JD Edwards.
AMR Research estimates that 70 percent of Demantra's current installed base uses the
joint Demantra/JD Edwards product (approximately 80 clients). Thus, when developing the integration roadmap for Oracle Fusion Architecture, allowances were made for the
integration of third-party demand planning products, like Demantra's.
