Orvis Expands Mobile Strategy

The Orvis Company announces the launch of its iPhone and Android rich apps powered by mobile commerce company Digby. The rich apps are expected to complement all of Orvis’ cross-channel touch points including retail stores, e-commerce, catalogs, and a mobile-optimized web site (also powered by Digby).
 
“Orvis has been a recognized leader in outdoor traditions, quality and customer satisfaction since 1856, and we are excited to carry on that tradition through this new mobile initiative,” says Phil Young, vice president of Ecommerce Marketing at Orvis. “With the help of Digby’s innovative mobile platform, we have been able to create a more engaging and personal relationship with our customers through our mobile web site and now, through our mobile apps.”  
 
Orvis’ new mobile apps and enhanced smartphone-optimized web site enter the market just after a recent study by Ipsos and PayPal. The study found that at least 46 percent of consumers plan to make purchases from a smartphone this holiday season.
