PEEPS Helps Fight Leukemia

PEEPS marshmallow brand candies from Just Born Inc. were recently represented by amateur athlete Bruce Hochman in a Century (100-mile) bike ride around Lake Tahoe, Nevada, to raise money for The Leukemia & Lymphoma Society (LLS). Hochman is part of the LLS Team In Training, an international program of amateur athletes who run, walk or cycle in an effort to provide research funds aimed at the treatment and cure of blood related cancers. "Several years ago, members of the Lehigh Valley Team In Training cycling team decided to affix PEEPS to our helmets to identify our home area at this national event," says Hochman, retired director of student services in the Central Bucks School District. "On a lighter note, we wanted to draw as much attention as possible to what we were doing and we thought that wearing PEEPS Chicks on our heads would help this important cause." The names pictured on Hochman's cycling jersey during the ride were in honor or memory of friends and family who have fought or are fighting leukemia, myeloma or lymphoma. Hochman will be riding for his second year on June 3, 2007 also in Lake Tahoe. //
