Pernod Ricard will acquire The Whisky Exchange, an online and brick-and-mortar spirits retailer.

Founded in 1999, the U.K.-based Whisky Exchange has a catalogue of around 10,000 products. The family-owned company operates three stores in London, and it also conducts private sales and online auctions of rare spirits, the latter two of which Pernod Ricard cited as fast-expanding activities that this deal will help unlock.

Pernod Ricard, the No. 58 consumer goods company, will leverage synergies between The Whisky Exchange’s expertise and its in-house platforms, such as Drinks&Co and Bodeboca.

Alexandre Ricard, Pernod Ricard chairman and CEO of Pernod Ricard, cited e-commerce as a key channel in its long-term strategy.

“We are thrilled to work with Industry pioneers such as [The Whiskey Exchange founders Sukhinder and Rajbir Singh] and the whole team to bring The Whisky Exchange to a new step of its development,” he noted.

The Whisky Exchange will continue to operate with its current team and structure, with Sukhinder and Rajbir Singh managing the business as joint managing directors.
