P&G Identifies Warehouse Global Standard

8/19/2014
Procter & Gamble (P&G) has made APAL (AutoPalletP3 + AutoLoaderT3 from Transportation | Warehouse Optimization LLC) a global best practice for case picking and truck loading. P&G identified the benefits of APAL such as creating a repeatable, high-quality process that enables bigger, damage-free shipments as a “must have” for its distribution sites because APAL drives down freight costs, increases labor productivity by 15+ percent, and reduces material handling and in-transit damage.

APAL (an add-on to a warehouse management system) sequences picking and loading activities to build stable, high-cube, damage-free pallets that neatly fit into the truck or container. No longer does the warehouse have to rely on the order selectors and truck loaders ‘tribal knowledge.” This enables the construction of picked pallets that fit on the truck and loads that meet axle-weight limits in the various states and countries.

Transportation | Warehouse Optimization (T|WO), with offices in the United States, New Zealand, India and Europe, helps P&G, as well as other companies, including Nestl and Kraft, to reduce supply chain cost by applying optimization to difficult  logistics problems. Solutions to problems as scheduling capacity-limited distribution activities and creating orders that better utilize trucks inside inventory constraints are applied worldwide.
