Quaker Oats Brand Mascot to Support Movember Movement

11/12/2013
Men everywhere are saying goodbye to clean shaven faces in favor of the classic 'stache. The movement, better known as Movember, is a national charity aimed at raising awareness for men's health issues by encouraging men to grow a mustache during the 30 days of November. This year, Movember has found a new supporter in The Quaker Oats Company, a subsidiary of PepsiCo, Inc. Larry, the iconic face of the brand that has helped fuel consumers for more than 135-years, is dropping the razor and adding a little something to his look: a white mustache for Movember – yes, Larry is becoming a Mo Bro. What kind of 'mo is Larry growing?  Fans will have to follow him on Facebook to find out.

"Quaker is committed to promoting healthy lifestyles – a message we've supported for years," says Justin Lambeth, chief marketing officer of Quaker Oats. "Getting involved in the Movember movement makes sense for our brand since it's all about increasing awareness around men's health issues. With the simple act of Larry sporting a 'stache this month, we too can raise awareness around the campaign and become part of the solution."

To support Larry's Movember campaign, Quaker is pledging $25,000 to the cause. Supporters can donate to Larry's Movember page and even create their own profile by registering online. Fans can also track the progress of Larry's new look throughout the month on the Quaker Facebook page and will be able to vote on the shape of the 'stache – pencil, handlebar, etc. – as it grows.
