Sara Lee Signs Logistics Services Contract
Sara Lee Corporation signs a three-year contract for the logistics services of Wincanton plc, a European supply chain company. Starting this month, the contract will include a global group of enterprises operating in the FMCG (Fast Moving Consumer Goods) sector in Poland. The contract is for Sara Lee Coffee and Tea Poland S.A., a producer and distributor of ground and instant coffee from Poznan. Since 2002, it has been part of Sara Lee Corporation.
"We are convinced that we will enhance our competitive edge through the cooperation with Wincanton by maintaining a high quality of supply to the end customer in the times of growing logistics demands," says Piotr Hupalo, supply chain director for Sara Lee.
As part of the contract, Wincanton will be responsible for providing comprehensive logistics solutions, including, among others: trans-shipment, storage, pick and pack, groupage and full-load forwarding services. The contract provides for approximately 8,000 case movements per year. For the project, Wincanton will allot 2,100 pallet spaces in a high-bay warehouse located in Sady near Poznan, Poland.
