A Sizeable Issue

8/1/2006

You don't have an enormous budget because you are not quite a billion dollar company, but you need to spend money to become one. How do small to mid-market businesses do it? In this month's issue (Page 18), we highlight 25 companies that are on the fast-track to that billion dollar mark. What you'll see in these profiles is that no matter what type the CG company is, they share common challenges, strategies and goals. In this space, it is especially important to utilize the proper technology and leverage it to capitalize on efficiency. Tumi (Page 16), the subject of our lead story, is a great example of this approach and shows how smaller companies can employ a big system for maximum ROI.

Speaking of enabling business processes and technologies that promote growth, check out our 2006 RFID Research Report (Page 23) to find out how the CG industry is fairing when it comes to RFID technology adoption. Venture Development Corporation's research reveals that while compliance is still king, CG firms are targeting business benefits even though there is still room for improvement in regard to product cost and performance. And for a different side in the life of a CIO, don't miss Kara Romanow's "Catching Up With . . .," featuring Donagh Herlihy, vice president and CIO, Wm. Wrigley Jr. Company.
