TerraCycle Makes More Factory Waste Recyclable

4/2/2014
Factory managers may be responsible for reducing waste generated on the factory floor, but now workers themselves can get involved as they go about day-to-day tasks. By joining the Zero Waste program from recycling pioneer TerraCycle, factory and facility employees can recycle ear plugs and hair and beard nets.

TerraCycle offers several Zero Waste Boxes that can help factories and manufacturing facilities reduce their environmental impact. Managers can purchase boxes to recycle ear plugs and hair and beard nets separately or a combination box where both can be comingled. In addition to these workplace necessities, TerraCycle also has programs to recycle items from the break rooms and offices, including chip bags, energy bar wrappers, pens and tape dispensers.

“Participation in TerraCycle’s Zero Waste Box program can be a marketable, differentiating element in a crowded marketplace,” says Tom Szaky, TerraCycle CEO. “With consumers starting to expect environmental responsibility at every phase of their favorite product’s lifecycle, it just makes sense.”

Zero Waste Boxes can be purchased at http://zerowasteboxes.terracycle.com for $27.70 to $177.37, depending on the size and waste stream. Once factory managers receive a box for the waste stream of their choosing, they can start collecting. TerraCycle provides signage to help educate the workforce and increase compliance. When the box is full, it is shipped to TerraCycle for processing. The shipping cost is included in the price of the boxes.

Since 2007, TerraCycle has used innovative processes to recycle consumer packaging waste that would otherwise be destined for landfills. By partnering with major companies to collect their waste from consumers, we were able to offer recycling programs for certain waste streams. Now through Zero Waste Boxes, there are almost no limits to what can be recycled.
