Unilever Packaging Goes Green

The state of Alabama will be the launch site for a more environmentally friendly laundry detergent packaging solution. Unilever, the maker of All detergent, has announced plans to begin stocking local grocery store shelves with a two-times concentrate of its product in smaller packages. Unilever introduced a three-times concentrate of All 18 months ago and claims the new concentrated detergent has saved more than 25,000 gallons of diesel fuel since 2005. The stronger version of All, coupled with less packaging materials, will help shoppers and retailers become more environmentally friendly. Unilever is planning a fall roll out in Alabama to gauge the public's reaction to a new "green" product, which includes a smaller cap for the smaller amount of detergent needed.
