What 7 Year Itch?
In January, I will start my eighth year with CGT, meaning that I successfully avoided the 7 year itch. What's my secret? I attribute my job satisfaction to the fact I am never bored. This job keeps me on my toes with new trends -- some hype and some with true staying power -- that pop up on a yearly, monthly or even daily basis, and it's our job at CGT to stay on top of them. This year, we saw the rise of social media and mobility, the return of direct-to-consumer and a renewed interest in fundamentals. Even covering the recession has been exciting because we got to see companies try new things to maintain consumer loyalty and growth. Going into 2011, we look forward to watching the industry evolve further. And things look like they may be on an upswing with almost half of the companies on the 2010 Consumer Goods Registry reporting revenue increases. In closing, I would like to congratulate the CGT team (Kara, Alarice, Bill, Diana, Albert and Pam) for another great year. Happy holidays and we'll see you in 2011!
