Wipro Joins Transportation Blockchain Alliance
Wipro Ltd. has joined the Blockchain in Transport Alliance help the group spearhead the development of standards and drive adoption across the industry.
Formed by technology and transportation professionals as a forum for education and development in the freight industry, "BiTA" provides a platform to develop and embrace common frameworks and standards that industry participants can use to build innovative blockchain applications. Wipro intends to use this platform to help create platform-agnostic standards for the logistics and transportation industry.
“We are excited to welcome Wipro to the BiTA family,” said Craig Fuller, the group's managing director. “We look forward to working closely with Wipro’s blockchain experts to drive enterprise-scale adoption for global transportation organizations, specifically around use cases such as supply chain traceability, trade finance, provenance, fraud detection and compliance management."
An IT, consulting and business process services company, Wipro helps organizations throughout the blockchain adoption journey with a suite of offerings. Its focus is to drive the design and development of production-grade blockchain solutions for industry use cases, leveraging its portfolio of patents and IPs, pre-built frameworks, industry solutions and technology assets.
“Our membership with BiTA is reflective of our commitment to be an integral part of blockchain-driven transformation in the transportation industry,” said Srini Pallia, president of Wipro's consumer business unit. “We will collaborate with BiTA and our customers to take a business use-case approach and leverage blockchain to solve complex, new-age logistics and transportation issues.”
