Herbal Essences Plays Tag

Herbal Essences recently launches a new retail campaign using Microsoft Tag on in-store shelf talkers. The primary goal of the shelf-talkers is to help shoppers determine which collection of hair care products are best suited for their hair type and the addition of Tag provides the ultimate tool in finding the right product for their hair. By scanning the Tag, shoppers can view detailed descriptions of each hair care collection that corresponds to their hair type. Customers can also take a quiz about their hair type, view product reviews and even view YouTube videos with tips on hair styling. Herbal Essences rolled the campaign out nationally in more than 53,000 stores.
 
Microsoft Tag is a new kind of customizable 2D barcode that can be displayed anywhere and connects almost anything in the real world to information, entertainment, and interactive experiences on your mobile phone. They can be black and white or color, and customized with a logo, product image or other design. Tags are scanned using the free downloadable Microsoft Tag Reader on your smartphone.
 
With Tag, retailers have the option of automatically opening a Web page, playing a video, offering a song for download, showing a message, or, in the case of Herbal Essences, helping shoppers choose their hair products.
