Kellogg’s is automating the most important meal of the day.

The Away from Home division for the No. 48 consumer goods company teamed with DoorDash-owned Chowbotics to bring two cereal robots — known as the Kellogg’s Bowl Bot — to Florida State University and the University of Wisconsin-Madison. Students can select custom mixes that combine various Kellogg’s brands with fresh fruit, yogurt, nuts and more, for a choice of up to 22 ingredients.

Orders, which range from $2.99 to $6.50, are placed on the robot’s touchscreen or with Chowbotics’ mobile app, and university foodservice providers receive automatic notifications when ingredients will expire.

The two companies also collaborated for seven pre-programmed mixes, including “About Last Night” with Kellogg's Frosted Flakes, Froot Loops, Krave Chocolate, chocolate drops, banana chips and espresso syrup, and “Hawaii 5-0” with Frosted Mini-Wheats, Bear Naked Fit Triple Berry Granola, pineapple, coconut and mango.

Zach Ramos, general manager and VP of foodservice at Kellogg’s Away from Home, said the Bowl Bot enables the company to meet the low-touch experience that’s required right now. “At Kellogg, we are deeply committed to offering innovative solutions for our operator partners, helping them not only with menu items but also the full customer experience,” he noted.
