LEGOLAND Plans for Third Discovery Center

Five young Chicago-area LEGO enthusiasts parlay their LEGO skills to earn slots on the Junior Constructor Team, selected to help launch the LEGOLAND Discovery Center Chicago/Schaumburg. The two-story, 30,000-square-foot indoor LEGO world will be in Schaumburg, right outside of Germany, in late July. The first LEGOLAND Discovery Center opened in Berlin last year; a second site opened in Duisburg, Germany, last month, making this site, only the third in the world.

The LEGOLAND Discovery Center will feature hands-on LEGO model building as well a 4D cinema with a LEGO storyline and special effects, both a dragon ride and a jungle adventure trail filled with LEGO creatures, a LEGO factory tour, and models of superheroes and Chicago landmarks made out of tens of thousands of LEGOs.

Other features include a DUPLO play area for younger children, birthday party rooms, a LEGO cafe, a LEGO store, and a special room with rotating exhibitions of work by master LEGO builders.

Team members will be asked to provide feedback on the various LEGO activities and adventures being created for the site, receive hands-on training from master LEGO builders, and participate in special team events.
