Small Companies, Big Stories

4/7/2010
As an editor, the Standout SMBs cover story in this issue is one of my favorites to write because I become acquainted with some of the most fun and creative -- yet somewhat lesser known -- companies in the industry. Based on nominations from you, our readers, we profile a group of unique small to mid-sized companies that are definitely worth watching. Among them, Project 7 Inc., a truly altruistic company that donates 50 percent of its profits to seven areas of critical need in the world, and Alice.com, an e-commerce platform that allows CPG manufacturers to create branded storefronts. The functionality of this digital issue allows us to connect you with these companies like never before as we link you to their Web sites, Twitter pages, Facebook profiles and more. We hope you enjoy getting to know these companies as much as we have.

This issue also contains a Best Practices: Data & Insights section, because, as we all know, one of the biggest challenges that CG companies face is managing multiple sources of data and turning that information into actionable insights. You'll hear from Radio Flyer, Agio Cigars and Kellogg, which all implemented different data strategies to improve business processes and retail relationships.

Speaking of sharing best practices, CGT's 2010 Sales & Marketing Summit is quickly approaching (June 7-9 in NYC). If you're in charge of a sales or marketing function, don't miss this rare opportunity to network and swap insights with your peers. Check out the agenda, featuring thought leaders from Molson Coors, ConAgra, IDC Manufacuring Insights, Campbell Soup and more. We hope to see you there!
