WestRock to Acquire Cenveo Packaging

WestRock Co., Norcross, Georgia, has agreed to acquire Cenveo Packaging, a provider of folded carton and litho-laminated display packaging solutions. Cenveo Packaging, with six facilities in North America, is a division of Cenveo Inc., Stamford, Connecticut. “By combining our operating expertise in folding cartons and integrating WestRock paperboard with Cenveo Packaging’s packaging and printing capabilities, we will be able to better serve our customers while generating significant synergies and performance improvements,” Steve Voorhees, chief executive officer of WestRock, said in a news release.

Digimarc Adds Schawk as Partner

Digimarc Corp., Beaverton, Oregon, has made Schawk a certified provider of Digimarc Barcode. Schawk, an imaging solutions provider, is part of Chicago-based SGK and Matthews International Corp. To incorporate Digimarc Barcode, Schawk clients can contact their Schawk client representative to request enhanced packaging featuring Digimarc Barcode, which is essentially invisible to the human eye but can easily be read by mobile phone cameras, tablets, POS scanners and other network interfaces.

Clavis Launches Advanced Amazon Analytics

Clavis Insight, a Boston-based provider of online retail store analytics platforms for global brand manufacturers, launched Advanced Amazon Analytics – comprehensive measurement and insights capabilities available for analysis of brands on Amazon.com. Advanced Amazon Analytics is comprised of three key components to provide manufacturers with the most complete understanding of their performance across Amazon.

Allrecipes Expands Local Offers to App

Meredith Corp.’s Allrecipes.com expanded its native advertising capabilities by making its Local Offers shopper marketing platform available to mobile devices via the Allrecipes Dinner Spinner App for iOS phones and tablets.

The Carlyle Group Acquires Array

Global alternative asset manager The Carlyle Group, Washington, D.C., has acquired Toronto-based Array, a provider of retail merchandising displays and store fixtures to the global prestige cosmetics industry, from TorQuest Partners, a Canadian private equity fund.

Medialets Partners With Millward Brown

Mobile ad server Medialets, New York, has integrated its Servo ad trafficking platform with Millward Brown Digital’s Ignite Network. The combination of capabilities enables advertisers and agencies to seamlessly serve mobile ads across all ad formats including video and to accurately measure the effectiveness of mobile campaigns.

Rise Interactive Acquires SimpleRelevance

Rise Interactive, a Chicago-based digital marketing agency that specializes in digital media and advanced analytics, has acquired SimpleRelevance, a Chicago-based platform that personalizes marketing messages using machine learning.

SignArt Offering On-Premise Digital Solution

SignArt Inc., a Kalamazoo, Michigan-based manufacturer of commercial, electrical and architectural signs, has launched a new division called Evolocity to install and develop exterior, on-premise digital message signs. “Evolocity provides tools, training and guidance so clients master this form of advertising,” said Mike Williams, founder, owner and president of SignArt.

Personnel Appointments

Anthem, New York

The global creative agency expanded its North American brand development group with three appointments. Wendy Kufeldt was named managing director for Anthem’s Toronto office, Linda Bracanovich was named managing director for the agency’s San Francisco office, and Ron Vandenberg was named executive creative director, working out of the San Francisco office.

The company has hired Diane Beffa as VP of consumer and shopper marketing solutions.

The independent digital marketing agency has hired Suzanne Michaels as executive creative director. She will oversee the creative department, reporting to CEO Andrew Swinand.

GPA, Chicago, Illinois

The producer of substrate solutions for printing has appointed Matt Buckley as its wide-format product manager. Buckley will serve as a market expert and resource of strategic insights for GPA’s customers and sales professionals.

The Mars Agency, Southfield, Michigan

The agency has promoted Darren Keen to chief executive officer, Europe. He had been managing director, Europe. Before joining The Mars Agency in 2010, Keen was head of shopper marketing for Arc Worldwide in the UK.

McCann Detroit, Detroit

McCann Detroit appointed Peter Levin to the newly created role of executive vice president, executive digital creative director.

Momentum Worldwide, London and Manchester, England

Global brand experience agency Momentum Worldwide has named Luke D’Arcy president, UK.

The digital agency has hired John Stichweh as VP of client partnership. Stichweh was previously director of global marketing at ConAgra Foods.

Sonoco, Hartsville, South Carolina

The global diversified packaging company announced several interrelated senior management changes: SVP of global industrial products and protective solutions John Colyer is relinquishing his operations leadership to focus on treating a health issue. Rodger Fuller, group vice president, is assuming responsibilities for the industrial businesses in the Americas. Howard Coker, group vice president, is assuming responsibility for Sonoco’s industrial businesses for the rest of the world. Rob Tiede, senior vice president, will continue to lead the company’s consumer packaging and display and packaging business and is assuming additional responsibility for protective solutions and reels.
