Coty is bolstering its consumer beauty leadership with the addition of Stefano Curti as chief brands officer, consumer beauty, and the elevation of Alexis Vaganay to chief commercial officer, consumer beauty.

Previously global president of Markwins Beauty Brands, Curti will be tasked with strengthening the division’s brand equity, global positioning and innovation performance. He brings nearly three decades of beauty and health experience in the U.S., Europe and Latin America, including 22 years at Johnson & Johnson.

During his time at J&J, Curti led such brands as Aveeno, Clean & Clear and Neutrogena.

Vaganay, who joined Coty in 2016, has more than 20 years of experience in international sales and marketing. Based in Coty’s Amsterdam headquarters, he’ll work in collaboration with Isabelle Bonfanti, chief commercial officer of luxury, to lead all of Coty’s regions and develop the consumer beauty commercial strategy. This specifically includes increasing market share and revenue in color cosmetics, body care and consumer fragrances, according to the company.

He was most recently executive VP, EMEA, after spending four years as general manager of UK&I luxury. Prior to joining Coty, Vaganay was VP of marketing at Bic. He also spent a decade at Unilever.

Sue Nabi, who joined Coty as CEO earlier this year, noted in a statement that consumer beauty is a critical pillar of the No. 60 consumer goods company’s business.

“My ambition from day one has been to quickly build a first-class leadership team. The appointment of these two leaders means we are now in great shape to re-position our portfolio of brands more clearly,” she said. “Stefano’s track record and sector expertise makes him the right leader for our consumer beauty transformation. Alexis, likewise, is a proven leader within Coty and his deep knowledge of our business and brands makes him the perfect fit to accelerate our growth on all continents.”

The beauty company named Jean-Denis Mariani as chief digital officer in October.
