Hormel Foods, which includes such brands as Planters, Justin’s, Spam, and Skippy, is replacing its supply chain leader as group vice president of supply chain Steve Lykken leaves the company to pursue another opportunity.

The company has named Kevin Myers, who has been with the company since 2001, as the interim group vice president of supply chain.

Myers will oversee the company's entire supply chain organization, including procurement, manufacturing, engineering, logistics, research and development, quality management, and plant operations.

More About Myers

Myers joined Hormel as a research scientist and has risen to the position of SVP of research and development and quality control. In that role, Myers has been overseeing product development, packaging, food safety sciences, and lab services.

Prior to joining Hormel, Myers’ career spanned a decade in the food industry, working across food science, research science, and new product development for companies such as Sara Lee Foods and Oscar Mayer, according to LinkedIn

The company has been making supply chain improvements within its organization over the past three years following the development of a center of excellence known as Brand Fuel. Efforts have included investing in real-time data sharing to improve on-shelf availability with retail partners and moving toward a holistic, integrated business planning approach

Hormel’s Leadership Search

The news follows an announcement from CEO James Snee that he will retire from the company in 2025 after a 36-year career with the organization.

Hormel’s board is looking to identify Snee’s replacement via a search committee that will consider both internal and external candidates. Once a successor is named, Snee said he will serve as a strategic advisor to the board through the end of fiscal year 2025 and for the following 18 months.

Lykken had been with Hormel Foods since 1992 and was in the role of VP of supply chain for just over a year. A permanent replacement will be decided by Hormel’s future CEO.
