Filippo Catalano has departed Nestle SA to become chief information and digitization officer at RB.

Catalano, who will also become a member of RB’s executive committee, will drive the IT and digital transformation efforts of the No. 48 consumer goods company.

The exec spent five years with Nestle, most recently as SVP, chief information officer. He spent more than 16 years at Procter & Gamble in a variety of IT and digital roles, and is a previous CGT CIO of the Year finalist.

In a statement announcing the appointment, RB CEO Laxman Narasimhan noted the importance of building and maintaining competitive IT and digital capabilities in today’s business landscape.

“Developments over the last decade and now — whether it's the growth of e-Commerce, the power of data analytics, social media pervasiveness or more recently the need to remain connected virtually — all further highlight that the IT and digital function is the backbone and engine of growth of RB,” said Narasimhan. “Additionally, technology underpins our ability to create new businesses and new business models for our increasingly digital consumer.”

The manufacturer of such brands as Lysol and Mucinex, RB has seen dramatic sales increases during the pandemic. Total revenue grew 6.9% in the third quarter, it reported this week, with e-commerce sales up more than 45% for the quarter and over 50% year to date. Its e-commerce sales — which include direct-to-consumer sales as well as those through its online-only platforms and omnichannel retailers — now represent 12% of total net revenue year to date.

The company also announced a partnership with Google last month as part of its digital transformation, unifying its data to develop new consumer identification, journey and behavior capabilities.
