Starbucks is advancing its data efforts by hiring Das Dasgupta as its chief data and analytics officer.
Dasgupta brings decades of experience in data strategy and technology, having worked in data science and digital transformation roles at companies like Saatchi & Saatchi and Viacom. His career also includes time spent at Amazon, McKinsey & Company, and Ernst & Young.
According to Dasgupta’s LinkedIn, he specializes in artificial intelligence, machine learning, and leveraging technologies to make data-driven decisions across marketing and advertising, supply chain and operations, and back-office automation.

As an example, he points to building an AI- and ML-powered system for Saatchi & Saatchi that helped increase return on ad spend for clients by an average of 40%. Additionally, he automated order-to-cash, procure-to-pay, and records-to-reports systems at Viacom. At Amazon, Dasgupta helped develop the picture-taking processes for deliveries to improve customer experiences and save upwards of $100 million in costs for the company.
