Molson Coors Beverage Company will soon have a new leader at the helm.

The current president and CEO Gavin Hattersley, who has been in the role since 2019, has announced he will retire by the year's end.

As a 28-year veteran in the beer industry, Hattersley played an integral role in shaping the existing company through mergers and acquisitions between SABMiller (South African Brewing), MillerCoors and Molson Coors.

Hattersley is credited with having helped grow the Miller business and launching the MillerCoors U.S. joint venture in 2008. He also initiated a Revitalization Plan and subsequent Acceleration Plan to return the company to growth.

The departing CEO has led several partnerships, including a joint venture with D.G. The search is on

The Molson board, with the help of an external firm, will be launching a search for its new president and CEO, considering both internal and external candidates.

Hattersley’s replacement will be tasked with building upon the company’s growth optimization strategy, which includes premiumizing the portfolio, expanding beyond beer, and investing further in capabilities that drive long-term growth.

As part of these efforts, for example, the company has been bolstering its integrated business planning strategy to consolidate planning across commercial, supply chain and finance teams. This includes integrating data-driven commercial planning and RGM capabilities to improve forecast accuracy.
