Greg Hall is joining HanesBrands as its first chief consumer officer, departing Walmart to join a fellow alumnus.
Hall, most recently senior VP of private brands at Walmart, will lead U.S. marketing and brands, e-commerce and retail at HanesBrands beginning Nov. 16. He will also be responsible for building the company’s global brands.
The chief consumer officer title is a new role for HanesBrands.
Steve Bratspies, CEO of HanesBrands, joined the No. 77 consumer goods company from Walmart earlier this year. The company is currently performing a strategic review of its operations as part of a multi-year digital transformation journey, chief of which includes intensifying its efforts to gain a consumer-centric mindset.
Hall spent 14 years at Walmart in a series of senior marketing and merchandising leadership roles, including chief marketing officer of Walmart.com and head of Walmart’s U.S. manufacturing initiative. He’s also served as director of marketing at Frito-Lay.
In a statement announcing Hall’s appointment, Bratspies cited the consumer as the company’s top priority.
“Greg is an outstanding merchandising and marketing leader with a track record of driving growth across industries,” he noted. “He will be responsible for how we engage with our consumers, from our brands to our retail stores to e-commerce, and will play a crucial role in building HanesBrands into a growth-oriented, consumer-centric organization.”
