Mars named Marina F. Bellini as president for the global business services organization, where she will lead operations and enterprise digital technologies.

The role was previously held by Angela Mangiapane, who is retiring after 35 years with the company and will stay on for a transition period.

Bellini brings a deep background in the consumer goods industry. Although her most recent role was COO at Latin American bank Itaú Unibanco, she previously served as CIO and CDO at tobacco manufacturer BAT, where she led their digital transformation.

She also spent three years at PepsiCo, including as CIO for Latin America, and she served for more than 13 years at AB InBev in a range of IT, analytics, and operations roles, including as global CIO and global business services SVP.

In a statement announcing the appointment, Mars pointed to her experience in building operating models in which operations, IT, digital, data and analytics, and business services evolved to drive higher value to both businesses and customers.

Digital Empowerment

Bellini has previously spoken about the importance of enabling technology through employee empowerment and increasing digital literacy.

While at BAT, her focus included automating more processes at the organization, which in turn enabled the company to operate more quickly and more intelligently, according to a 2020 interview with Hispanic Executive

However, she viewed the CIO role as both technical and cultural, noting, “The potential of technology in a workplace is only fully realized when you have the culture and ways of working that enable it. … Driving our people’s connectivity and digital capabilities plays a crucial part in how efficient, strong, and fast we can be in our learning.”

Bellini is based in Newark and will report to CFO Claus Aagaard.
